Religious Education

We are fortunate to be part of a strong, diverse community, and our religious education curriculum reflects these qualities. Through formative engagement in the major religions, ethical development and philosophical ideas, we aim for our children to develop a respectful and analytical understanding of religion, morality and diversity.

Through the delivery of RE, we aim to support the promotion of British values within our academy, guiding our children to a comprehensive understanding of religious diversity, tolerance and respect. We learn how different beliefs shape our community, our nation and our lives, and explore how our own beliefs are shaped by our experiences.

The implementation of RE at MPA is focused through the six major world religions. Within each milestone of the curriculum, children study Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism and Buddhism with increasing depth of exploration. This structure allows our children to build on their knowledge and understanding as they progress from one milestone to the next. Morality, philosophy and the exploration of ‘big ideas’ is woven into our learning in each milestone, support all our children to develop a holistic, critical understanding of religion and beliefs across our society.
